Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announced that eClinicalWorks users will be able to take advantage of Elsevier's ExitCare solution for evidence-based patient education and discharge instructions through the eClinicalWorks Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Elsevier will demonstrate ExitCare's capabilities at the eClinicalWorks National Users Conference, October 11-14, 2013, in San Antonio, Texas.

ExitCare's library of content, organized by care setting and composed of both Easy-to-Read and Standard content, is available in 12 languages through the eClinicalWorks EHR. ExitCare's content is designed to offer healthcare providers an optimal user experience and more streamlined clinical workflow. It delivers relevant medical conditions, diseases and lab information to patients at the point of care. ExitCare is also certified as an EHR module for Stage 1 and 2 meaningful use.

"We're looking forward to providing ExitCare's custom content to our customers through the eClinicalWorks EHR," said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks. "The ExitCare-eClinicalWorks collaboration supports enhanced communication between patients and providers for increased compliance and satisfaction."

ExitCare content helps providers improve the documentation and delivery of healthcare information and services required across all care environments. ExitCare provides associated print, electronic and video patient education content and tools that are critical to increasing patient engagement and reducing readmissions, and also meet the emerging needs of both hospitals and office-based physicians who wish to provide a multimedia education experience for their patients.

"Our content and the eClinicalWorks technology platform complement each other to address customers' needs such as meaningful use, care transitions, improved outcomes, readmission reduction and more," said Hajo Oltmanns, Senior Vice President, Elsevier. "Our unique enterprise-wide solution offers multiple languages and two reading levels and utilizes graphics, bullets, subheads and color, all of which combine to make diagnosis and medical condition information easier to understand, more engaging and more memorable."
