Four days after registration started, about 4,000 health care providers had begun the process of signing up for the federal meaningful use incentive program, according to CMS, Government Health IT reports.
The registration program, which became operational on Jan. 3, gives eligible health care providers who demonstrate meaningful use of electronic health records access to Medicare and Medicaid incentive payments.
CMS spokesperson Joseph Kuchler said the agency expects the number of registrants to increase daily.
States' Medicaid Efforts
Medicaid providers must begin the registration process through the CMS portal and then complete the procedure through their state Medicaid agency. Health care providers can access explanatory guides, fact sheets and frequently asked questions on a CMS incentive program website before registering.
Last week, Kentucky and Oklahoma issued the first incentive payments under Medicaid. Other states that have begun registration for the Medicaid EHR incentive program are:
