Did you know that CMS provided Quality and Resource Use Reports (QRURs) to physicians in groups of all sizes and physician solo practitioners in September of 2014? The 2013 QRURs provide clinically meaningful and actionable information that can be used to improve the quality and efficiency of care provided to Medicare beneficiaries and also to understand and improve performance on quality and cost measures. If you are a physician subject to the Value-Based Payment Modifier (VM) Program, the reports also contain information about how your performance is affecting your Medicare payments in 2015.
CMS has recently updated the How to Obtain a QRUR web page to more clearly explain how to access a Quality and Resource Use Report (QRUR) on behalf of a group or physician solo practitioner.
About the 2013 QRUR Report
Calendar year 2013 is the performance period for the VM that will be applied to physician payments for items and services furnished under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for physicians in groups of 100 or more eligible professionals (EPs) in 2015. The 2013 QRURs contain quality and cost performance data that were used to calculate the VM for these physicians in 2015.
In order to receive the 2013 QRUR, providers must meet the following criteria:
More information about the 2013 QRURs can be found on the 2013 QRUR webpage.
What’s Next?
In April 2015, CMS plans to release Mid-Year QRURs to physicians in groups of all sizes. Then, in the late summer of this year, CMS will provide the 2014 Annual QRURs to groups comprised of only non-physician eligible professionals, in addition to physicians in groups and to those who are solo practitioners.
